A Sociological Examination of Trans Healthcare In America
Trailer for Kao’s Cast Episode 1.
Below is a 1 of 1 Podcast episode hosted by myself and two of my colleagues, Sociologists Cameron Crispens and Zack Moore. Together we took a look and examined the quality of Transgender Health Care in the United States up to the year 2021.
“Participants described inferior healthcare experiences affected by both race and gender identity together.”
Transgender men are a vulnerable population whose health care needs have been difficult to identify because of limited research and an inability to identify the population.
“Because of discrimination, specifically within the workplace, transgender individuals are often unemployed and without health insurance, which limits their access to health care.”
